From Framework to Decision

Faraday’s take

Frameworks are useless if they sit in a spreadsheet while the calendar and the capital burn. The final discipline is turning analysis into a sequenced, real-world decision: killing bad sites cheaply and early, spending expensive diligence only on survivors, and recognizing the failure modes that repeatedly wreck otherwise smart teams. Faraday's read: most site-selection disasters are not analytical failures but sequencing failures, money and time poured into a site before the one disqualifying fact was checked. Get the order right and the six variables, the matrix, and the scarcity thesis finally pay off in a decision you can stand behind.

Knowledge check

Why should diligence be sequenced so that kill criteria are checked before expensive analysis, and what failure does this prevent?

Show the answer

Because the disqualifying facts (no firm power path, a hard entitlement barrier, a fatal environmental or community constraint) are usually cheap and fast to check, while deep diligence is slow and costly. Checking kill criteria first prevents the common failure of sinking large sums of money and months of time into a site that a single early check would have eliminated.
