Reading Hiring Velocity and Specialized Roles
Staffing precedes building, and staffing is advertised. A firm can delay a press release, but it cannot pour a foundation without interconnection engineers, cooling leads, and permitting specialists, and it cannot get them without going to market. So watch the market. The signal is not the raw count of open roles but the velocity and concentration of new ones: a burst of specialized postings clustered in one territory dates and locates a project roughly a year before the ribbon is cut. Read roles in sets, weight the senior and unusual ones, and a company's hiring page becomes a design document it never meant to publish.

Why is hiring velocity a more reliable early signal than the raw number of a company's open roles?
Show the answer
A large firm always has open roles, so the raw count is mostly background noise. Velocity, the rate at which new specialized postings appear and how tightly they cluster by location and function, reflects a decision that has just been funded, which is what carries timing and location information.
