Building an Independent Read

Faraday’s take

The consensus is where returns go to die: if everyone already believes it, it is already priced in. And consensus is more fragile than it looks, usually just one or two original sources echoed until people mistake repetition for verification. That fragility is your opening. Build a view from primary sources, filings, permits, procurement records, hiring patterns, interconnection queues, and from talking to people who do the work rather than people who talk about it, then keep your own dated log of who predicted what. Conviction is built, not adopted. And when the narrative and the physical evidence disagree, trust the physical evidence: power, equipment lead times, and labor leave traces that are slower to read and far harder to fake than any forecast. The story is what people say. The concrete is what got built.

Knowledge check

Why does an independent reader treat a company's hiring patterns, permit applications, and interconnection-queue positions as more informative than its announcements?

Show the answer

Because these are primary, physical traces that require real money and time to create and therefore cannot be faked as easily as a forward-looking claim. A strategy cannot be executed without staffing, a build cannot proceed without permits, and a large load cannot run without secured grid capacity, so these records reveal genuine intentions and hard constraints months before, or in contradiction to, the official narrative.
